Hi, folks! As I'm typing this, I'm waiting for my husband to come home from work so that we can enjoy our super-special Valentine's Day dinner. He works late on Mondays, so instead of doing anything like going out (although two friends of ours were performing at a jazz club in the South End), we thought we'd prepare a special dinner at home instead. I'm still dressed up, though. Please.
(Oh, on the menu? Gluten-free pasta with lobster! And CHOCOLATE FONDUE! Yes, PLEASE!)
Today dawned sunny and balmy (for our standards). I went out for a disastrous run and the weather was lovely. [But on that note, runners? LHdM? Allison? Anyone? Why can't I run anymore? After a month and a half of travelling over the summer, I was still able to come home and run 2.5 miles (which is a good run for me anyways). Now I just...can't. And I'm still working out. The most I took off because of travelling/holidays was, like, a week and a half. Any hints? My symptoms are that I get tired/crampy faster and my endurance is just shot. Any help would be appreciated.]
Okay, back to normal. Because the weather was so nice, I took advantage of a relatively idle day (my husband hasn't finished proofreading my intro draft and I have all day tomorrow to plan my mock lesson) to take a short walk to get supplies for Amalía. This is what I wore:
So there you have it, folks. The above outfit is what I'm wearing RIGHT NOW. My husband should be coming home soon and then...sweet, sweet dinner...
... We won't even be eating it in front of the TV!

Ooh! Blurry!
As I told you all on Halloween, I...kind of like dressing up for holidays. So I couldn't help but put on my pink pants. Add a grey tunic and a purple cardigan and I'm a mass of color! Flower jewelry just made me feel even more romantic!
For the special part of the day, tonight, I decided to up the ante a little bit with the colors. Check me out!
Kitty head!
BOOM! How 'bout that, folks?! Oh, pay no mind to the Flintstones-esque hair. I...am back to planning to chop it all off. So I knew I wanted to wear my favorite red dress and my Fluevog boots. I thought that if we went out for drinks, I'd put on more subdued legwear to pair with the boots, but in the safety of my home, I was curious to do something I'd never done before: yellow tights with yellow boots. I don't know if it's as leg-lengthening as everyone says, but I LOVE the look! Hee! I'm like a colorful Valentine's duck! I...will probably do this again.

You are a knock-out in the evening ensemble and that menu sounds delicious! Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThe double-yellow is perfection!
ReplyDeleteThanks, ladies! I enjoyed the yellow on yellow!
ReplyDeleteI like the yellow tights and boots, I think it would look LESS subdued if you had a contrast between boots and tights.
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic! I love all of that red. The meal sounds delish! As for the running, that's happened to me before too. It could just be that you had an off day, and the next run will be better. But if the next run sucks, I would just dial it back a bit and then slowly work your way back to where you were. It won't take long! If I have coffee before running I get really crampy. Also, doing the running man helps get one into the spirit :)
ReplyDeleteCynthia, you are tempting me to ALWAYS pair those tights with those boots now...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Allison. And thanks for the advice, as well. I don't know what it is, because I don't run that much in the first place, you know? I'll see how I feel next time...
Totally adorable. I love the red and yellow together. Of course I am a huge fan of brightly colored or outlandish tights in general, but I love that you matched them with the boots. I bet it would look great with a gray top/dress as well. Hope you and your husband had a great night.
ReplyDeletePS: If you're gluten free, the Plough and Stars in Central (Mass Ave & Hancock St.) has a yummy and ever-changing gluten free menu on Monday nights.
Thank you, Red! I'll definitely try another dress/top with this combo!
ReplyDeleteI am gluten-free, and I will definitely check out the Plough and Stars! Thanks so much for the recommendation!
Ooh, beautiful dress! I like the yellow/yellow.
ReplyDeleteAs for the fun, I agree with Allison. Some days are just off. Did you get enough sleep the night before? Also, sometimes sudden shifts in weather can effect my fitness. I also find that running outside is very different than exercising indoors. It's a different kind of effort. It's supposed to be 60 degrees this Friday so give it another go.
I stayed home and made pasta with my guy, too - and I wore a red dress for the occasion, too! I was sans lobster, though...how fancy of you! We watched YouTube videos of tango instruction as I've been wanting to learn. It was a good evening. :) I hope you had fun with el esposo tambien.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that dress - so flattering! And are those zippers on the pockets?
ReplyDeleteWe stayed home for dinner too... also had lobster! Hope you two had a fantastic night. :)
Thanks, Rad! My concern is that my off-days have been pretty consistent for about a month. Well, I'll keep trying and try to start again from scratch, as it were.
ReplyDeleteYay for home-made pasta on Valentine's, Angela! Instead of sitting at the table like romantic adults, my husband and I ended up watching Bravo with our lobster and pasta on our laps. Romance!
Kate, those ARE zippers on the pockets. They don't do anything, but they're cute. There's also a kick-ass exposed zipper on the back. And yay for lobster soul mates! Check back later today!
Bring on the ante upping and more freaking awesome yellow boots and tights! I'm late to the partay, but had to ring in to say, "You. Look. Fantastic."
ReplyDeleteYou're never late to the party! Thank you!
