How I wore it: Thursdays are back!

People, I am typing this from my living room, on my sofa, watching 'The Office.' The NBC line-up is back, people! Tina Fey and I are reunited again! It's the little things, y'all. It's the little things. Anyways, I had a very pleasant morning and early afternoon just loafing around and lesson-planning for today and tomorrow. However, I did have to leave the house in order to tutor my six-year-old charge. Since my brain was filled with what to pack for my six days in Philly, I just went with something easy:

There you go, people. When I have nowhere to go for which I need to dress like an adult, you just get a lot of tight pants, boots, and tunics. And cardigans. Sadness. God, I hope I get a job. On that front, things are still looking the same: the Spanish teacher from the school in which I'm interested e-mailed me today. We'll be speaking on Saturday. I'm feeling mortified because I just noticed that I mis-punctuated my e-mail back to him (after Dear ____ in Spanish, it's usual to use a colon, not a comma. And I typed a comma without thinking. My husband says it would be paranoid to bring it up on the phone)... it's okay. Everything'll be okay.

... I'm being weird, aren't I. Stop the panic...

Despite the simplicity and boredom of this outfit, though, I was pleased with it. The simple colors and shades made me happy. Also, I was wearing my grey Fryes as a good-bye because I won't be packing them to Philly. I'll be living in my red Fryes for the next couple of days, believe me.

Good times, y'all. Good times. I'm so boring. Forgive me, y'all.

  1. So if makes you feel any better, I never notice colon v. comma in emails. But I totally get how a person could get stressed over a detail like this.
    Yeay for Thursday nights!

  2. It looks great on. Simple is not bad. Simple can be great.

I'm DVRing NBC because Nathan went out but I CANNOT WAIT! Did you watch "Perfect Couples" what did you think? It was "eh" for me but so were the first several Parks and Recs and I think that's gotten really good....

  3. Oh Chalkdust; (or,?)
I very much thought of you today when I was thrifting and I came across a Brooks Brothers skirt very much like in your last post. I can safely say that I knew nothing of this brand name before you. Is it odd that I think of another blogger in normal life?

Don't be sorry about the tunics. I love seeing them because I don't own a single tunic. I never jumped on the wagon and now I cannot find on in sight around here. Oh, how rough life is.

  4. Rad, you made me perk up a bit: thanks!

Erin, thanks! I felt so comfy all day, too. So I watched 'Perfect Couples' and I thought it was pretty "eh" also, but I couldn't convince myself to turn it off and wash the dishes instead, so I guess I'll keep on giving it a try. I was way happier for the return of 'Parks and Recs' than I anticipated.

Oh, Miss B. Brooks Brothers! My mother's favorite brand. It's very old-school New York - like my older brother's classmates in his prep school (and their parents) all wore BB. They're getting hipper, though, and the quality of their stuff is amazing... I think I have a tunic problem, though, and I may need more...

  5. Erin--with a different pair of glasses, YOU would look like Tina Fey. I just realized this.

I've sat on a number of hiring committees and wouldn't think a missing colon on an e-mail is a big deal, but in a letter, it might be.

  6. We'll see, Terri! The frustrating thing is that I've NEVER made that mistake before, in either casual or important e-mails. So of course I made it on this one. Grrrr...

  7. Simple is good. I LOOOVE those boots, and I love how they look with the tunic.

Oh, goodness, I make the colon/comma mistake all the time! I go back and forth between English and Spanish a lot, and always forget which to use. I wouldn't worry too much about this one, but I totally get how it feeds your anxiety. I wish the best for you!

  8. Oh, thank you! Um, tell me more about going back and forth between English and Spanish: I'm intrigued.

  9. They probably didn't even notice it. No te preocupes, nena! I wish you so much luck with the job hunt!

I love and covet those Fryes!
