How I wore it: New Year's Eve day and night and Day

It's a three-fer today, people!

Oh, and happy new year, everyone! I hope that 2011 is awesome for us all!

So yesterday, on New Year's Eve, I hung out with my parents for most of the daytime hours while my husband and his mother went outlet shopping. The weather was gorgeous and practically springlike. This is what I wore:

Wow, are my pants wrinkled

As you can see, I fancied it up by wearing my contacts. I realized yesterday, while pulling on this outfit, that I'm a big fan of color contrast with black. I wear most of my bright/light pants with black - I just like the contrast between light and dark, no matter the style or weight of the pant; I feel like everything just looks crisper. These khakis were no exception.

As I mentioned, my husband and mother-in-law went outlet shopping. A couple of hours in, I got a text from my husband asking me what size I was. When they returned, he proudly showed me a black dress he had bought me! Isn't that awesome? He wanted me to wear something pretty for the New Year's Eve dinner we were hosting (I was planning on wearing this dress, maybe with the yellow boots), so he bought me a LBD! I wore it for our mini-party that night:

I love how simple it is as well as the pretty, rounded neckline. I have another formal black dress that's pretty similar (except for the distinctive neck), but I'm definitely of the opinion that having lots of black dresses is no bad thing.

Our mini-party was fun. Apart from my parents and my mother-in-law, we had our next-door neighbor over with her teenage niece. All in all, a lovely evening with delicious food (courtesy of the mom-in-law, who's an amazing cook) and good company.

Today we decided to eat some more at my husband's uncle's home in the area. I had been planning for some time to wear my new Fryes, so I did! They caused quite a ruckus at the party, everyone asking me where they came from. They were all impressed at my husband's largess. I must say, wearing tall-ass boots like these makes me feel like an Amazon, tall and invincible!

Did I mention I plan on wearing these shoes forever?

And there you have it, people. We're vegging on my couch now and I think I might eat some more (all under my calorie count, of course) - ahhhh, holidays!

People, I've decided that I need a fun moniker for my husband. What should it be? Help me think something up. Some of his attributes include that he's tall (dark, and handsome), bearded, and Greek. I refuse to call him after a Greek god of Olympus. Other than that ... Any ideas?

  1. Hmmmm husband moniker. Mr C&B? Greek Chic? Chalkdust and Zeus? Mr. Beardy? Hmmm. Not sure if they are winners. Good luck!

  2. I thought Greek Chic was amazing until I read Chalkdust and Zeus. AMAZING.
