How I wore it: boss for dinner

So today we invited my husband's boss over for dinner. Isn't that so lovely and traditional? I almost felt as if I were in a 60s sitcom! So many madcap hijinks that could've gone wrong! Good thing he didn't notice that I'm secretly a witch! Or a genie. Heh, no, I kid.

So, anyway, yes, we had an honored guest over for dinner (yummy homemade appetizers, homemade pastitsio again, salad, and home-baked pineapple upside-down cake) and I decided to dress up for him. I went for one of my favorite color combinations and piled on the mascara:

I considered wearing this dress with my Steve Madden boots again, but my husband convinced me to wear "normal" shoes rather than boots for a quiet evening at home. I guess he was right, but I came to an important conclusion, one that I've been sitting on for about a year:

Wedges are not flattering on me. For so many years, I've been told that they're just as elongating to the legs as heels, but more comfortable, blah-blah-blah fashioncakes. Um, not so with me, yo! My legs are blessed (cursed?) with a bunch of natural curves/muscles and I think that these wedges (which, in their defense, don't have that much of a wedge - they're quite low) just exacerbate the curviness of my legs and stumpify the whole leg, and thereby, the whole effect.

So, my final conclusions?

• Low wedges aren't as flattering on me as flats, weirdly enough
• Wedges do look great on super-skinny legs
• I don't have super-skinny legs. Ergo, wedges don't look great on me
• I shouldn't wear wedges with skirts and expect that my legs look gazelle-like

See? Bullet points! Doesn't that make my conclusions look all official and stuff?

Well, now time to wiggle my nose and see if I get magically transported to bed!
