How I wore it: Christmas shopping, round 2

Yowza, so today my husband and I wandered all around our neighborhood, in three different directions, for Christmas gifts and decorations for the house. This always leads to a bit of tension because I'm a bit of a Scrooge when it comes to decorating, but he gets as excited as a little boy. He's stringing lights on our bookshelves as we speak. Anyway, we got a good gift for my mother-in-law, who'll be coming to visit in a week, but still nothing for my sister-in-law (brother's wife). Dammit.

Since I wasn't going to be seeing any former students or employers (that I knew of), I decided to wear my new corduroy leggings. The rest of the outfit? Is, um, weirdly reminiscent of yesterday's look (y'all are lucky I found my brown tunic, because I was originally gonna wear an outfit which would lead to the potential post title of "At Least I Changed Pants"):

Despite my being a newly discovered Camera Expert (...not), the photo doesn't do the color of the leggings justice. They're a lovely peacock teal/turquoise and I loved pairing them with the subdued colors of my cardigan, boots, and tunic. It was also fun to pull out my old turquoise scarf, that I haven't worn since the summer, I don't think.

Oh, and can we just discuss? SIX DAYS TILL NEW BOOTS Christmas! I don't think I've been this excited for a Christmas since age 10. Oh, boots. They bring out the infantile in us.

Turquoise scarf: From the Indian stall in Prudential Mall, remixed
Striped cardigan: Banana Republic, remixed
Brown tunic: Gap
Peacock leggings (the color on the box was "Jupiter"): HUE, by way of Lord and Taylors
Grey boots: Frye Paige Huaraches, by way of endless.com, remixed

  1. I can't wait to see the new boots make their blog debut! The scarf is very pretty and looks great here with the striped cardigan!

  3. Hi! My name is Sarah, and I'm sick and trying to distract myself by skipping around on blogspot... I just found you by way of Sheila from Ephemera, and I just wanted to say, I am totally loving your style, and as a fellow academic type, anyone who can get out of the PJs gets my respect. :)

  4. Oh, thank you so much! Your kind words mean a lot to me, especially as I'm wrapped in head-to-toe fleece at the moment, manically trying NOT to finish my dissertation intro. So, yes, I might have just read THE ENTIRETY of your blog. Your schooling sounds fascinating!

  5. You're welcome! I know how you feel, too. I'm just in it for master's and it's totally killing my will to wear anything without an elasticized waistband. I was all excited once the semester was over to have a chance to dress up and do more stuff fashion-wise until I got sick and had to spend the last two days in my PJs. Again. Dammit.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

  6. Thank you! It's my favorite - warm, long, and my favorite colors!

  7. I dig the complimentary green blue of the scarf and the jeggings. I am also a Hue jeggings convert. It's like wearing socially acceptable sweat pants. Win win!

  8. Ohmigod, yes, EXACTLY. I just... really hate the word 'jeggings' - I guess that's the price I pay for owning them...
