How I wore it: the hell?!

People, it did not rain today. And I was pissed.

I had such a fun, new-boot-showcasing outfit planned! But I woke up to a clear morning and a day filled with sun and clouds, but very little rain. Some drops fell on my three-minute walk between my tutees' home and the subway station, but they weren't worth pulling out an umbrella, let alone having put on knee-high boots made of rubber.

... Boo.

So, instead, I went with Plan B, which... was not well thought out. I had another top in mind beneath the long sweater-vest, but it was a little too revealing, so I went with a simple black tee. In that picture, you can see that there's not much flattering going on there. My man-arms sort of seem to seethe out of those short sleeves and the clingy vest conspires to make me look hippier. Boo. You guys, my rain outfit was so much cuter!

Lord, my Thursday tutoring gig brings me down. Oh, well - there's not much more to go until summer vacation (and never going back because of having a job come September!) and the bulk of my pocket cash comes from two hours of teaching Spanish...

What, you think I only took an unflattering shot?! Here I am smiling like a goon at my cat...

The good news is that we learned something special today: if you want nice weather, all you have to do is ask me to pray for rain.

  1. I love those jeans on you. I keep telling myself I need to try a pair of more trouser-y jeans. I can't be wearing skinny jeans until I'm 80! I was kind of ready for rain to. It got overcast a lot and the wind picked up, but no actual rain. Luckily I didn't wear my rainboots to work this time (last time everyone laughed at me)

  2. Your new rain boots could have had a blast in my hood. It's been raining here all week! I like your sweater vest look! Happy soon to be the end of tutoring!

  3. Thanks, Cassy! I've had these jeans for almost five years and they've never worn out their welcome. Granted, right now they're too big and their hems are super-frayed (making them unwearable to work next year as per my own resolutions), but I still love 'em. And, yeah, I want to wear my rain boots for REAL rain!

Oh, Allison, how you tease. It's supposed to be bad tomorrow and Sunday, so then maybe...I'll go OUT? I don't know, my brain's all confused now.

  4. Wow, I'll definitely keep wishing for rain if that actually works. But I'm sure it'll rain eventually, and then we can see your sweet new boot outfit.

I'm digging the sweater vest. It's one of those things that looks great on others, but feels way too preppy on me.

  5. Anne, I think the sweater vest looks way too preppy on me, too, but I'm determined to make it work with my usual style, whatever that is...
