How I wore it: second verse, same as the first!

As you may remember from last year, yesterday (August 15th) was Assumption Day, which is a huge deal in Greece. We celebrated by going to church in the morning and eating like hogs for the rest of the day. My mother-in-law had done Orthodox fasting (i.e., no meat/dairy products - maybe no olive oil, too? - for two weeks); I was exempt, and no one else had bothered. I celebrated personally by...wearing the exact same outfit as last year:

You can thank my husband for this picture - and for cutting off my feet

Seriously, even the jewelry is the same. The only differences are my hair, my shoes (which you can barely see, but are orange sandals), and the fact that my good-luck amulet is tucked into my bra. Stay classy, C&B!

On a side note, how pretty is my mother-in-law's garden in Sparta? I didn't have the heart to crop the picture...

Dress: Gap, remixed
Orange sandals: Nine West, remixed

PS - I actually took some pictures of all the food we ate - and used my camera's "food" function! I hope to do a post on that in the near future.

  1. I've never ever heard of a food setting on a camera. I am so out of the loop.

Love that dress (and the garden!)

  2. My point and shoot camera doesn't have a "food setting", but it does have a "kids and pets" feature, which I use pretty much constantly for anything that might move.

Also, I can see why you repeated the dress, the black and white print is awesome.

  3. I thought I recognized your husband's feet-cutting off skills. The dress is gorgeous on you so I completely approve of the repeat.

  6. Thanks for the nice comments, everyone! I think I need to be more direct with my husband: "Take a nice picture of me to commemorate the moment and include my feet for the blog, mmkay?"

My camera thinks that I lead a more glamorous life than I do: food setting? Indoor party? Nighttime landscape? Sigh.

As for repeating the dress, this is the only relatively 'fancy' dress that I had this summer (which I actually keep in Greece full-time), so I didn't feel too bad repeating it. I hope I'll have more options next year...!

Terri, I didn't include the side portrait, which I also demanded my husband take. My belly is just starting to stay consistently "pregnant-looking," so I foresee it being a lot more obvious from now on...

  7. Great dress!
I anticipate drooling on my keyboard when your food photos get posted. I spent seven weeks in Greece in 1999 (did I ever tell you that?) and ate my face off the entire time.
